Ski Touring in the Sibillini Mountains:
Van Life and Perfect Spring Snow in Castelluccio di Norcia

Our ski touring expedition in the Sibillini Mountains was an unforgettable adventure, made even more special by the unique charm of van life. With Castelluccio di Norcia as our base, we spent a couple of days exploring the region’s breathtaking slopes under the bright sun and perfect spring conditions.

The Sibillini Mountains delivered everything we could have hoped for. The snow was classic spring quality—firm in the morning, softening just enough by midday for smooth, effortless descents. The terrain offered a variety of routes, from wide-open bowls to gentle ridges, all framed by the dramatic beauty of this lesser-known corner of Italy.

Staying in our van added an extra sense of freedom and connection to the landscape. Parked in the iconic plateau of Castelluccio, we woke up each morning to panoramic views of snow-covered peaks and the vast, rolling plains below. After a day of skiing, the van became our cozy retreat, where we prepared simple meals, shared stories, and planned our next adventure.

The atmosphere of Castelluccio di Norcia was another highlight of the trip. This resilient village, perched high in the mountains, is known for its warm hospitality and delicious local cuisine. Ending the day with a hearty meal and a view of the alpenglow on the peaks made the experience even more memorable.

This trip wasn’t about chasing powder—it was about embracing the beauty of spring skiing, finding joy in every climb and descent, and immersing ourselves in the serenity of the Sibillini Mountains.
